Picture Perfect

One of the best ways of adding interest to your interiors is through artwork and pictures. They tell a story about the individual.
On most of our projects we always take a look at our client’s artwork so we can integrate them into our design. Sometimes a whole concept can be derived from one piece of artwork – that’s how important they are.
Now when I say artwork I don’t necessarily mean expensive oil paintings, I also mean family photos or prints – basically anything that you can put on a wall.
Here we ‘d like to impart a little of our knowledge and inspiration for you to implement in your home:
Think about arrangement
Artwork and pictures can be arranged in many interesting ways….
1. In clusters:
2. On their own as a centre piece….
3. In a symmetrical arrangement:
Think about position
Pictures don’t all have to be hung two thirds up the wall. Think outside the box, so to speak, and place them at different levels:
Place a piece of artwork on the floor:
Or just above a table for instance:
And of course size matters:
There’s a big trend to move back to the massive poster style pictures. Remember Athena anyone? We love this idea of two large framed prints hung on the stairs. These were actually pictures of the owner’s dogs!
For sheer impact think about scale – place a large piece of art in a small room. This will not only provide a focus but also give an illusion that the room is bigger that it is!
